Around this time last year, I sat in Stoughton High School's chilly auditorium with total amazement at the SHS's production of the Sound of Music. Despite having no singing skills whatsoever and “relatively good” dancing skills, I proclaimed that I wanted to be a part of the magic that I witnessed in a little less than 90 minutes for next year.
Next year became this year. And when signup sheets were pressed against the band room wall, I couldn't help but pen my name, despite having to juggle five other extra-curricular activities in which I hold leadership/ strong positions, AP and Honors classes, Lent, and SAT Preparation. In cursive, I inscribed that I would be a part of stage crew for the production of Cinderella.
In eight weeks, I and several other members of my Stage Crew family sewed clothes and flags, undressed and dressed our cast, built planks of wood into huge sets and painted everything that didn't have a pulse. To say the least, it was a lot of work that we did in so little time. And all the while I was doing these things, I became a part of a family with each joke, smile, and laugh.
Singing, acting, dancing. From April 29th to May 1st, I and my faithful other stage crew members put two months of a lot muscle, a lot of sweat and yes, a lot of tears into making sure that the beautifully talented cast of Cinderella would perfectly blend all of these three things into making the perfect show. And it was all worth it.
