Despite having no singing skills whatsoever and “relatively good” dancing skills, I proclaimed that I wanted to be a part of the magic that I witnessed in a little less than 90 minutes for next year.

On Thursday, April 28^th, Stoughton High School hosted its biannual blood drive in the gymnasium. Working with the Red Cross, Peer Leadership registered students during the week leading up to the event and assisted with proceedings on the day of it.

Any art lovers or anyone who has spent a significant amount of time around the area of Boston have probably heard about the robbery that took place at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum. This particular robbery has gone down in history as the greatest unsolved art mystery. Even to this day, it is still unsolved. However, the FBI still leaves the case open. The award for returning the stolen art is roughly five million dollars.

However, what you do not know is that many of these dogs and cats have been neglected, abused, and are suffering disease. Millions more even live homeless; they did not have the luxury of being rescued.

Junior and JSA Chapter President, Kerlyne Jean- Baptiste’s Binder, opened up to the JSA flier, her best speaker award, her gavel, and the NER Revolution, official newspaper of the northeast JSA.

Although the weather doesn’t show it, spring is here! And so, the JSA Northeast Region traditionally kicked off spring with our Northeast Spring Regional on March 19th at the Boston University Law Center.

In the spirit of the New Year and decade, many Americans feel as though they are truly on the road for a fresh new start. For the eight hundred thousand Haitian Americans living in Massachusetts, January is notorious for something else. From now on, the beginning of each year will forever be stained with grief and painful memories from the effect and aftermath of the 2010 Haitian Earthquake that occurred in mid- January.

As most of you SHS students may not already know, elections for Stoughton Selectman are this Tuesday, April 5^th. But don’t fret if you hadn’t heard the news. According to Snyder’s Stoughton, 80% percent of Stoughton inhabitants will not show up to the polls and vote for the people who ultimately decide how this town works.

Dreams finally come true for track star

Nationals were just a mere thought in the back of junior and track star Jade Paul’s head as the 2011 indoor track season began. According to Paul, the odds of this happening were slim to none. However, she continued to strive towards it on every workout she ran.

Before Paul knew it, she was headed to New York to compete in one of the most distinguished meets sponsored by New Balance.

Everyday, whether noticed or not, there are peers all around you that, through hard work and determination juggle two very important things: academics and sports.

This past fall season, Stoughton's student athletes competed at the best abilities and were able to maintain exemplary grades. These students were commended at the 2010 Fall Sports Awards that took place on December 6, 2010.

A clear representation of an average American’s diet.

In Massachusetts, the state average regarding the topic of obesity is 34.3%. The more astonishing factor is that Stoughton’s percentage equals out to 38.7%, which is above state average.

Due to the increasing percentage of children that are over weight, childhood obesity has become a reoccurring issue that affects our nation. Studies show that approximately 80% of children who are over weight will be obese later on in life.
